We are currently doing a two-year “Loop” of the Eastern United States waterways on our Fathom 40 - Fast Trawler.

Our mission is to share, photos and stories of our experiences, 

while we do the Great Loop.

Briefly… we have lived in Traverse City, Michigan for over 25 years while raising three sons, working and becoming seasoned boaters on the Great Lakes. Jim recently retired from Merrill Lynch where he had been the branch manager and a financial consultant while Lisa retired from Knorr Marketing as an art director/designer in 2000.

We spent the first year of retirement traveling the 6,000-mile Great Loop route on our boat, Kismet. Jim obtained his U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s licence before we left in 2005. Since we sold our house to do the Loop in 2005 we currently live aboard our boat most of the time and maintain a slip in the beautiful Charlevoix, Michigan.

We are currently on our second 2-year Loop trip and loving every minute of it.

We have begun second careers writing for and selling photography to several popular boating magazines. We are both writing, twice monthly, online log articles for BoatUS - Cruising Logs, Jim has recently become a cruising editor for Waterway Guide. We have just been invited to be on the Advisory Board of America’s Great Loop Cruising Association.
